Bryce Ford-Wheaton went undrafted in the 2023 NFL draft. The NY Giants signed him on May 5th, 2023. Is he the diamond in the rough they hope he will be?

Bryce Ford-Wheaton spent his college career at West Virginia with the moniker that he can only make contested catches and physicality could only carry him so far to a certain extent that is correct. He has a limited route tree, is not highly fluid in and out of breaks, and his hands could be more consistent.

So why did the NY Giants need to sign him as an undrafted free agent?

He is a 6’4 220, pound boundary receiver who can easily make those contested catches. He uses his physicality and big frame to outmuscle defensive backs. Then there is the body control while he is in the air, high-pointing balls before a defensive back realized it was thrown.

While this big, he has top-end 4.38 speed to stretch the field or take a curl route to the house. This young man can make you miss or run through you and will not be brought down with an arm tackle.

The NY Giants know that this young man is raw talent. Imagine, however, if he can put it all together. With the young receiving corps Daniel Jones has at his disposal, adding one more will only put a bigger smile on his face.
