Out of St. Charles, Illinois, Nubin was regarded by most as the top safety in the 2024 Draft.

As a redshirt freshman, Nubin started all seven games for the Gophers in the COVID-shortened 2020 season. He tallied 41 tackles and secured one interception.

Nubin became an Honorable Mention All-Big Ten Conference player in his sophomore year. He led the team in interceptions with 3. Starting all 13 games, Nubin posted 52 tackles, one sack, and two PBUs. He was named the defensive MVP of the Guaranteed Rate Bowl with eight tackles, a sack, and a PBU.

Despite a broken hand that forced Nubin to miss the end of the year, he earned Second-Team All-Big Ten Conference honors. He once again led the team in interceptions, with four. He also posted 55 tackles, two tackles for loss, one PBU, and a forced fumble.

Nubin closed his senior year by earning Second Team AP All-American and First Team All-Big Ten Conference. He was sixth in the nation with his career-high five interceptions. Starting all 12 games, he has 53 tackles, 4 PBUs, a sack, and a forced fumble.

Nubin has the most career interceptions at the University of Minnesota with 13.
